This new scholarship fund will help support students who identify as Black, Indigenous, or as People of Color (BIPOC) in their journey to becoming a midwife. We know that one way to help provide safe and satisfying midwifery care includes helping build a workforce that represents the community in which the midwife will serve. We will announce the availability of the scholarship in late 2021/2022 and are actively seeking community members to help plan and review the application process.
This fund provides compassionate support for midwives in grief or work-related distress. The fund was established in the memory of Marc Huggins, the son of a former Oregon Affiliate President, who died on March 20th, 2015.
This scholarship and support fund focuses on providing education and leadership training opportunities for Oregon based nurse-midwives and students. It was established in honor of Carol Howe, CNM, DNSc, FACNM, DPNAP, FAAN, on the occasion of her retirement as director of OHSU's top-ranked midwifery program in the country. Thank you for your support!
