Lifting Education for Equity Fund (LEEF)

The Lifting Equity in Education Fund (LEEF) was created in 2020 and will open for applications in 2025. The purpose of the fund is to provide financial support to midwifery students who identify as belonging to a group under-represented in midwifery. LEEF aims to improve the quality of care and address disparities in health outcomes by helping to build a workforce that represents the community in which the midwife will serve.

Carol Howe Education and Leadership Fund

This scholarship and support fund focuses on providing education and leadership training opportunities for Oregon based nurse-midwives and students. It was established in honor of Carol Howe, CNM, DNSc, FACNM, DPNAP, FAAN, on the occasion of her retirement as director of OHSU’s top-ranked midwifery program in the country. Thank you for your support!

Kate Pelosi Fund

This Scholarship Fund is named in honor of Kate Pelosi, an Oregon nurse-midwife whose contributions to her profession have stretched over 30 years.  From grassroots legislative lobbying which led to Oregon’s independent practice for CNM’s to founding and presiding over the Oregon ACNM Foundation, Kate has been a force of nature. The Fund will provide support for a student midwife who has volunteered or otherwise contributed greatly to the Oregon ACNM Affiliate. Recipients are nominated by the committee with which they volunteer and selection is made by the Affiliate board.

Midwives Accessing Resources and Compassionate Support Fund (MARC’S Fund)

This new scholarship fund will help support students who identify as Black, Indigenous, or as People of Color (BIPOC) in their journey to becoming a midwife. We know that one way to help provide safe and satisfying midwifery care includes helping build a workforce that represents the community in which the midwife will serve. We will announce the availability of the scholarship in late 2021/2022 and are actively seeking community members to help plan and review the application process.

The Janet Marjorie Huggins Memorial Scholarship

The Oregon ACNM Foundation is pleased to announce the development of a scholarship funded by Reb Huggins, CNM, a former Oregon ACNM Affiliate president, in honor of her mother, Janet Marjorie Huggins.   The scholarship will assist a student nurse-midwife who is a single parent. The award will be $2,000 per year for three years of training and will be available for  one new student starting in 2026.
